2008-01-04
It’s been a long time now since I wrote something on the English web site. We are at the moment working on a new version of this site that hopefully will be out in a month or so.
A lot of things have happened over the last two years. The sport had a split after WSM 04 when IFSA started. Or to be correct, a new company started with the same name as our old federation.
Most of the big names signed on and we were all hoping for great things to come!
It didn’t take long until everybody was fighting everybody, everybody trying to make things in to their own benefit, like on every other place in this world.
IFSA was fighting TWI and World’s Strongest Man and at the same time Ulf Bengtsson, and his Super series. It all ended with the obvious, TWI and Ulf teamed up, and the World strongest man Super series was born.
IFSA did their own thing, and all IFSA athletes were now stopped from entering the strongman sports main event, The World’s Strongest Man.
That together with a small “economic thing” (they never fulfilled the contract) made me leave IFSA and support the World’s strongest Man with its qualifying system, the Super series.
I personally hate to talk politics, but since I often get questions about IFSA and WSM I have now in a few words tried to explain what one year of great speeches, and grown up people pissing on each other all ended up with.
-06 was a fantastic business year, I did shows for companies and promoted my products all the time. On the contest side of it, -06 was a disaster! I was in great shape one week coming in to the Mohegan Sun. I was training dead lift when a hurt my back.
I didn’t think much of it and went to USA, hoping that a few painkillers would do the trick!
Well, didn’t work that way. After the warm-ups my right leg was getting num and all power was gone. Back home my doctor told me that the problem was a bulking disc. Back to the gym again, this time training rehab like a mad man.
The strange thing was that the rehab system made me get bigger and bigger. Coming in to WSM I was by far the biggest I have been in my life. Crazy strong arms and press, especially bench press!
My back was feeling better but not 100% yet.
My fight in WSM -06 didn’t last long. Halfway down the first event the disc give up and I was totally messed up. This time it was bad!
First month after WSM I spent mostly in bed, and then a slow rehab program.
I did my comeback in Norway 10 months later.
I didn’t expect much from myself, I just wanted to do a competition to see if the body could take it.
To my big surprise I did finished in third place, with tree event wins in the contest.
I then whent to WSM in Anaheim were I ended up in 5th place.
Not bad, but not at all what I went there for. Had bad fever for weeks coming in to the contest so my event training went down the toilet. Felt strong but a bit rusty in some events.
Saying that, WSM 07 was an extremely tough contest, not the events, but the athlete standard was fantastic.
Well, at least I was back in business, and to be honest, It felt great!
After a year constantly fighting injuries I managed to make it back to the top.
WSM in Anaheim was my 12th WSM. I made my 10th final, and maybe with a better first day things could have been different.
Thanks’ to my sponsors was 07 yet another great year. Endorsement and promoting jobs is nowadays my main focus. I still train once or twice a day and I’m looking forward to the Super series and WSM for this year. I’m also excited about the Fortissimus contest that will be in Canada.
Last year I started a new company were I combined a few of my passions in life.
The company name is Wilderness Power and Speed, an adventure centre with focus on Quads and ATV, power sports and wildlife.
I don’t have an English web site for it but please look on www.atvcenter.org to see it in Swedish.
Basically people and companies come to me and have fun! My way of fun!

See you.

Magnus.
